Exercise is beneficial for everyone’s health, but what is the best time to do it?
It is not easy to determine, but if you want to control blood sugar or glucose, it is best to exercise in the afternoon.
This was revealed in a medical study in the United States.
Research from Brigham and Women’s Hospital examined the effects of various lifestyle factors in people with type 2 diabetes and obesity.
During the research, it was observed that what time of day exercise leads to significant improvement in blood sugar levels.
The results showed that afternoon exercise significantly improved blood sugar levels in diabetic patients over a one-year period.
More physical activity in the afternoon led to significant improvements in blood sugar levels, the researchers said.
He said that we know that exercise has health benefits, but research results indicate that the timing of exercise is also important.
The study involved more than 2400 people and its results were published in the journal Diabetes Care.
Earlier in November 2022, a clinical study in the Netherlands reported that exercising anytime between noon and midnight reduced the risk of insulin resistance by 25 percent.
Insulin resistance occurs when muscle, fat, and liver cells have difficulty responding to insulin, causing blood glucose levels to rise.
The study enrolled people between the ages of 45 and 65 and had their blood glucose and insulin levels checked at baseline.
The results showed that physical activity between noon and night reduced the amount of fat in the liver while also reducing insulin resistance.
According to research, exercising in the afternoon or evening can reduce insulin resistance by 18 to 25 percent.
The researchers said that physical activity at different times of the day is beneficial in terms of insulin sensitivity.
Further research will analyze what time of day exercise may be best for preventing type 2 diabetes, he said.
The results of this study were published in the journal Diabetologia.
