In response to the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden, Turkey has announced that it will not support Sweden’s accession to NATO.
In a statement, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Sweden will not get our support for joining NATO if it does not respect the religious beliefs of Muslims.
The Turkish president said that Sweden should protect itself from these anti-Islamic elements and terrorists, for us there is nothing more than the religion of Islam, its teachings and the Holy Quran.
Keep in mind that there is a tension between Sweden and Turkey on NATO membership, Sweden wants to join NATO but Turkey is against it.
Turkey says that Sweden should first deport critics of Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan and Kurdish leaders, but Sweden is not accepting these demands.
In the past few days, the leader of Sweden’s far-right extremist party, Rasmus Ploden, announced that he will protest outside the Turkish embassy in Stockholm on Saturday and that he also plans to burn the Holy Quran.
The Swedish authorities had allowed Rasmus to desecrate the Quran, on which Turkey also expressed great anger and registered a protest by summoning the Swedish ambassador twice.
However, despite all the protests, the controversial politician took part in the desecration of the Koran in Stockholm on January 21.
In 2022 and also in 2020, Plowden, along with his colleagues, tried to organize a ceremony to burn the Holy Quran, after which large-scale protests broke out in Sweden.
