First meeting:

Lata Mangeshkar, who used to consider Noor Jahan as her guru, was very much impressed with her.

Well known writer and filmmaker Nasreen Mani Kabir writes in her book about Lata Mangeshkar’s meeting with Noor Jahan that according to Lata Mangeshkar, one day she met her elder mother Noor Jahan in a studio and I sang in front of her. Was told.

Noor Jahan’s prediction:

Lata had said, “When I sang, Noor Jahan told me to sing in movies. He praised me and said that one day she will become a great singer.”

Later, their friendship began to grow but after the partition of India, Noor Jahan came to Pakistan and thus the two friends became estranged from each other.

Once Lata Mangeshkar had to go to Amritsar in 1952, he wanted to meet Queen Tarnam who lived in Lahore and Lahore was 2 hours away from Amritsar.

Lata called Noor Jahan and after chatting on the phone for some time, decided to meet at Wagah border.

Popular musician C. Ram Chandran wrote in his autobiography that ‘I used my influence to meet him in what is called’ No Man’s Land ‘in military parlance.

He writes, “As soon as Noor Jahan saw Lata, she came running and hugged Lata tightly. Tears were flowing from both their eyes and we who were watching this scene could not hold back their tears.” Even the soldiers on both sides started crying.

The musician also said in his autobiography that Noor Jahan had brought sweets and biryani from Lahore for Lata, Noor Jahan’s husband was also with her and Lata was accompanied by her sisters Meena and Osha.
