Scientists have succeeded in creating a mouse that has 2 biological fathers.
To give birth to this mouse, sperm cells were prepared from the cells of male mice and according to experts, this will open a new way for couples suffering from infertility.
Experts from Japan’s Kyushu University said that this is the first time that a mammalian organism can be born from the cells of male animals only.
He predicted that this would make it technically possible to produce human sperm from male skin cells within a decade.
The research team will now try to conduct such an experiment on human cells.
The researchers said that it is difficult to say whether this technology will be available for humans.
He said that the main aim of the research is to make possible the treatment of women suffering from infertility whose genes are missing X chromosome.
For this research, the cells of male mice were transformed into stem cells and thus produced an ovule to make the birth of a mouse possible.
According to the researchers, this rat is healthy and its physical development is taking place normally.
The results of this study have not yet been published in a medical journal but were presented at a conference.
