Sri Lanka runs out of gasoline due to worst economic crisis
Speaking to the nation, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said the country has only one day’s supply of gasoline and that the economy is in peril, with more difficulties likely to come in the coming months.
He said $75 million was urgently needed for basic imports, the country was short of 14 essential medicines and needed to urgently pay for medicines while printing money to pay for government salaries and essential goods.
The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka said that the next few months will be the most difficult months for SriLankan Airlines to propose privatization, and the country must be prepared to sacrifice and meet challenges.
