Smoke, emergency landing on British Airways flight from Washington to London

A British Airways flight departing from Washington DC to London made an emergency landing on the report of a fire.

According to aviation authorities, the Boeing 9-787 Dreamliner aircraft as flight BA 216 took off from Washington DC to Heathrow London Airport in the United Kingdom at 6:49 pm according to the local time of the United States.

An hour into the flight, the pilot reported smoke in the plane’s cabin to air traffic control, after which the flight made an emergency landing at nearby Halifax Airport, but the plane and all passengers were safe.

Later, the aircraft with registration (G-ZBkL) was fully inspected and the aircraft was declared fully fit and the passengers were sent to their destination.
