Protests against gas crisis in Karachi, worst traffic jams

Karachi: Demonstrations were held in different parts of the city against non-supply of water, electricity and gas, causing severe traffic jams on various highways.

According to Express News, residents of Chanesar Goth area of ​​Mahmoodabad staged a protest in front of the National Medical Center near Kala Pul against the gas cut off. Protesters chanted slogans and demanded gas supply. Due to the demonstration, the citizens returning home from their offices in the evening faced severe difficulties.

The protest caused severe traffic jams on Korangi Road and surrounding roads and long queues of vehicles. In addition, residents of Sher Shah Paracha Chowk also protested against the non-supply of water due to which the surrounding highways were closed. But the worst traffic jam.

Demonstrations were also held at Jinnah Bridge in the area of ​​Tower over non-supply of gas, which resulted in worst traffic jams on II Chandragar Road, Tower, MA Jinnah Road and Maripur Road.

According to police officials, PPP workers protested against the Sui gas blockade near the tower, causing queues of vehicles on the red zone and other highways.

Meanwhile, Aiwan-e-Sadr Road, PIDC, Zia-ud-Din Ahmed and Din Mohammad Wafai Road also witnessed traffic jams.

Police and Rangers officials rushed to the spot on information of the protest and dispersed the people peacefully after the talks, after which traffic flow was restored to normal.
