Negotiations with banned TTP will be finalized with the approval of Parliament under the constitution, National Security Committee meeting said.
ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif chaired an important meeting on national security at the Prime Minister’s House on Wednesday, which was attended by national, parliamentary and political leaders, members of the National Assembly and the military leadership.
A briefing was given on the overall security situation in the country by the agencies responsible for national security. The meeting was apprised of the threats posed to the country at home and abroad and the steps being taken by the agencies responsible for national security to address them.
The meeting was briefed on administrative matters on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The meeting was informed that Pakistan has played a very responsible and positive role for peace and stability in Afghanistan. Pakistan will continue its constructive role for peace and stability in Afghanistan. It was hoped that the territory of Afghanistan would not be allowed to be used against Pakistan.
It was stated in the meeting that Pakistan’s efforts and sacrifices in the war against terrorism were recognized by the world. Thanks to the unparalleled sacrifices of the Pakistani nation and the Armed Forces of Pakistan, state functioning, restoration of peace and return to normal life have been ensured across the country. Today, there is no structure of organized terrorism in any part of Pakistan.
The meeting participants were also briefed on the details of the talks with the TTP. The meeting was briefed on all the backgrounds in which this series of talks started and the periods that took place during it were briefed. The meeting was informed that talks are underway with the TTP with the facilitation of the Government of Afghanistan in which a government-led committee comprising of civil and military representatives is negotiating within the framework of the Constitution of Pakistan. The final decision will be made in the light of the Constitution of Pakistan with the approval of Parliament, the guidance provided for the future and consensus.
