Kabul: EU officially opens embassy in Afghanistan.
An Afghan foreign ministry spokesman said the embassy opened in Kabul following a meeting and understanding with EU representatives.
EU foreign policy chief Peter Steino said in a statement that the bloc had begun to re-establish a minimum presence in Kabul.
According to an EU foreign affairs spokesman, our presence in Kabul should not be interpreted as an endorsement of the Taliban government.
The spokesman added that the Afghan de facto authorities had also been clearly informed in this regard.
You may recall that a few days ago, the Deputy Minister of Information of Afghanistan, Zabihullah Mujahid, issued a statement saying that the Taliban government has fulfilled all its promises, so now the international government should recognize the Afghan government.
