The driver of this bus did not have the compass in the eye. On Sunday February 6, 2022, shortly before noon, he entered his vehicle from a private company under the railway bridge from rue des Grouettes near the train station Saint-Michel-sur-Orge (Essone). However, the bus outsize its recessed under the bridge whose height is 3.3 meters.
The photos published by the departmental directorate of public security show the extent of the damage, the bus has thus lost several elements of its bodywork. “No injuries are to be deplored”, nevertheless indicates a police source.
After the accident, traffic was interrupted on the main road but also on the RER C where train traffic was stopped between Juvisy and Brétigny.
Traffic resumed after safety checks on the bridge
“SNCF experts had to go there to assess the structure of the bridge in order to check if it had been damaged by the passage of the oversized bus, which took a while”, specifies this same source.
Finally, after a little over an hour of interruption, traffic resumed rue des Grouettes and the RER C trains were able to circulate again, the bridge showing no damage.
Initially greatly slowed down between Juvisy and Dourdan and between Juvisy and Saint-Martin d’Étampes, train traffic was able to resume smoothly a little before 3 p.m.
