Case of theft of 3 million tonnes of copper and brass from steel mills sent to FIA


Three employees have been implicated in the theft, one of whom has been sacked, Parliamentary Secretary Industries and Production Shahida Rahmani

Islamabad: The government has sent the case of theft of 3 million tonnes of copper and brass from Pakistan Steel Mills to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

In the National Assembly session, Parliamentary Secretary Industry and Production Shahida Rahmani said that the case of theft of three million tons of copper and brass from steel mills has been sent to FIA.

Shahida Rahmani explained that the value of this theft is not 10 billion rupees but 47 lakh rupees. The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is also investigating the matter. Three employees are involved in the theft, one of whom was dismissed Gaya, 15 lakh 70 thousand is being recovered from the second while the inquiry against the third employee is about to be completed.

After Shahida Rahmani’s briefing, the Deputy Speaker referred the matter to the Standing Committee on Industry and Production.
