ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court has issued a written order to hear constitutional petitions against the Practice and Procedure Act.
An 8-member bench headed by the Chief Justice heard the case on May 2, the written order of which has been issued.
It has been said in the court order that notices are also issued on new constitutional petitions filed after the act is made, important constitutional points have been raised in the petitions.
The court has directed the Attorney General to submit the records of the National Assembly related to the bill, while it has also been directed to provide the records of the joint session of the Parliament and the standing committees.
According to the court order, the restraining order on the Supreme Court Practice and Procedural will remain in place until further notice.
The Supreme Court’s order did not mention the Pakistan Bar Council’s objection to the eight-member bench, while the court directed the parties to file a comprehensive reply by May 8.
