This goes unnoticed on satellite images. A mysterious one Airplane sits in the courtyard of a mansion in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. How did it land in the heart of the Marais district and what is its story?
Art or corpse?
The plane was spotted in the courtyard of the Hôtel de Bondeville, a building built in the 17th century at the end of the Renaissance and listed as a historical monument since 1961. In the late 19th century, the hotel housed the headquarters of the “General Counter of Bambiloterie”, (manufacture or trade in trinkets, editor’s note) which offered games and toys at particularly low prices.
Little information circulates about the origin of this aircraft which could be the work of one. The artist Creates in the yard and not the carcass of an old warplane. The model does, however, resemble the DC3, an American fighter plane widely used by paratroopers during World War II, of which 13,000 copies were produced. However it is unlikely that this is a real cabin, but more of a reproduction.
Unfortunately, the unusual is no longer visible in the courtyard of this hotel in the heart of the Marais. The device was removed in October 2020, according to a photo taken by artist Paul Second, who maintains the Roofs of Paris Instagram account.
