The US State Department recognizes the counter-terrorism measures taken by the Pakistani government and national security agencies.
The US State Department released its annual report on the threat of terrorism, which reviewed the threats faced by different regions and countries of the world.
According to the report, Pakistan faces the risk of terrorism in 2020, and the number of terrorist attacks in Pakistan in 2020 has increased compared with 2019.
The US State Department reported that the banned TTP and ISIS were the main organizations in Pakistan, while separatist groups carried out attacks in Balochistan and Sindh.
The report acknowledges that Pakistan has taken measures to curb terrorist financing and cooperate in the Afghan negotiation process, but progress in the 2015 National Action Plan has been limited and no action has been taken against other terrorist organizations.
The report stated that the leader of the Islamic religious group was sentenced in February and November last year, but did not take any action against Maulana Masood Azhar of Jaish-e-Muhammad and Sajid Mir of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
While the US report affirmed Pakistan’s counter-terrorism measures, it also stated that Pakistani security agencies are conducting counter-terrorism operations across the country.
The report on India pointed out that various terrorist organizations are carrying out activities in India, including Islamic religious organizations, the Muhammad Army, Hezbollah, Islamic State, Al-Qaida and the Mujahideen coalition.
India has taken actions against these terrorist organizations, and the activities of Sikh separatists on the ground have also decreased.
