Washington: Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has said that there was a threat of nuclear war between Pakistan and India which was averted by US intervention.
Former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo claimed in his book that in February 2019, the rivalry between Pakistan and India was about to turn into a nuclear war, but the US intervened and the threat of a nuclear war ended.
According to Mike Pompeo, one night after the Pulwama attack, a senior official of India said in an emergency phone call that Pakistan has started preparing for a possible nuclear attack against India and India has also started considering retaliation.
The former US Secretary of State claimed that he sought time to resolve the issue while restraining the Indian officer from taking any action.
Pompeo further said that US diplomats have assured India and Pakistan that neither is preparing for nuclear war. No other country could have done what America did that night.
