ISLAMABAD: The purchase of mosquito nets from India to avoid the malaria epidemic in the flood-affected areas of Sindh and Punjab has gone sour.
Due to the malaria epidemic in the flood-affected areas of Sindh and Punjab, it was decided to order 6.2 million mosquito nets from India, but the officials of the Federal Ministry of Health say that NOC is required from the Cabinet Division for the purchase of mosquito nets from India.
Officials said that the purchase of mosquito nets from India to Pakistan is a global fundraiser, the Ministry of Commerce has given an OC for the purchase of mosquito nets.
According to the authorities, it may take 6 to 8 months to make mosquito nets from any country other than India, while Pakistani manufacturers can make good and quality mosquito nets locally.
