Islamabad (Monitoring Desk) The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is preparing to discuss the budget of the next financial year with Pakistan. According to the international news agency Reuters, the head of the IMF mission, Nathan Porter, says that the main goals of the budget 2023-24 and the fiscal deficit will be discussed with the Pakistani government.
He has said that “fiscal deficit is one of the last obstacles in the approval of staff level agreement with Pakistan.” Resolving the imbalance of payments crisis is very important for Pakistan. A staff-level agreement will be signed to release $1.1 billion in funding after discussing plans for the 2023-23 budget. There has been no response to Nathan Porter’s statement from the Ministry of Finance.
