The name of Nursultan, the capital of Central Asian country Kazakhstan, was changed again after 3 years.

Kazakh President Qasim Jomart Tuqayev has signed the bill to increase the presidential term and change the name of the capital after the approval of the parliament.

According to reports, the first term of the president under the new law will be 7 years.

On the other hand, after the approval of the parliament, the name of the capital of Kazakhstan ‘Nur Sultan’ has also been changed.

The old and historic name of the capital ‘Astana’ has been reverted. It should be noted that Kazakh President Qasim Jomart renamed the capital from Astana to Nur Sultan in honor of former President Nursultan Nazarbayev in March 2019.
