Washington (Daily Pakistan Online) American sprinter and long jumper Torey Bowie, who won three Olympic medals and two world titles, died at the age of 32. Bowie was found dead in her Orlando, Florida home.
According to The Guardian, the sheriff’s office said a 30-year-old woman had not been seen for days after police officers went to check on her, but found her body. The department further announced that Bowie’s death is not being investigated as suspicious.
Tory Bowie’s management agency Icon Management wrote on Instagram, ‘We are sharing the very sad news that Tory Bowie has passed away. We have lost a client, dear friend, daughter and sister. Tori was a champion. ..a tower of light that is very bright! We are truly heartbroken and our prayers are with his family, friends and everyone who loved him. We ask that you please respect our privacy.’
“Shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the sudden passing of Olympic gold medalist Tory Bowie,” International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach said in a tweet. In this moment of grief, I offer my heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. She was a true champion.’
The sprinter won three medals at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, winning gold in the 400m relay, silver in the 100m relay and bronze in the 200m race. Torrey also won gold medals in the 100m race and 4x100m relay at the 2017 World Championships. Her most recent major international competition was the 2019 World Athletics Championships, where she finished fourth in the long jump.
