A billionaire has donated his company to a trust to fight climate change.

Yvon Chouinard, 83, has announced the naming of his company Patagonia to a charitable trust to protect the Earth from the effects of changing climates.

Yvon Chouinard is worth $1.2 billion while his company is worth $3 billion.

He said in an open letter published on the company’s website that we have decided to use the company’s assets for land conservation.

He said that this is expected to usher in a new type of investment and more wealthy individuals will make such donations.

The company is headquartered in the US state of California and sells over a billion dollars worth of products every year.

It is written on the website of this company that now the land is our only shareholder.

Patagonia will continue to operate as a private company, but Yvon Chouinard and his family will no longer own the company.
