Islamabad (92 News) – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif says that with the coming of winter, flood victims need blankets and comforts.
Before leaving for London, the Prime Minister chaired a review meeting on the flood situation at the airport and the ongoing rescue and relief operations and rehabilitation work plan for the flood victims.
NFRCC told the meeting that according to the estimates so far, 23 districts of Sindh, 31 districts of Balochistan, 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 2 districts of Punjab are affected by floods.
Speaking in the meeting, he said that the electricity bills of the flood victims were waived, children are in dire need of food, philanthropists came forward to help the victims, Pakistan forces, government agencies and provincial governments are busy in rehabilitating the victims.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said that at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, world leaders were informed that a joint survey would be conducted soon to determine the exact extent of the disaster. In this way, after the damage assessment is completed, restoration work can be started in a better way.
The Prime Minister appealed to the donors, local and international NGOs and the entire nation including prominent sections of the society to come forward to provide food to the flood affected children.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the government is providing 70 billion rupees from its resources as immediate cash assistance to the flood victims. 30 billion rupees have been distributed under Benazir Income Sport Program so far. Two months of gas and electricity bills of the flood victims have also been waived.
