Islamabad: There has been progress in the negotiations between Pakistan and the IMF on the issue of direct loans.

According to the sources, there has been progress in the relations between the Ministry of Finance and the Foreign Office with the United States and other countries.

Sources say that the finance minister also participated in the negotiations yesterday, while it has been agreed to increase the external financing to 6 billion dollars instead of 7 billion dollars this year.

According to the sources, there was also a discussion about rolling over 2 billion dollars from China and it has been assured to get 80 crores from China soon.

Sources said that the State Bank and IMF officials have discussed the revised MEFP, in the next two days the finance ministry and the IMF will prepare the revised MEFP, the reduction in revolving debt in the new MEFP. A schedule is likely to be added.

Sources say that the Ministry of Finance has once again expressed hope for a staff level agreement in the next two days.
