New research on Leonardo da Vinci, the creator of masterpieces like the Mona Lisa, has revealed important aspects of his life.
Professor Carlo Valle, an expert on ancient masterpieces attached to the University of Naples, Italy, says that for a long time it was said that Leonardo Da Vinci’s mother was a peasant woman from the Italian region of Tuscany, but the facts are much more complicated than that.
During a press conference for a new book on Da Vinci’s life, he revealed that the mother of Leonardo da Vinci, the internationally renowned painter and symbol of Europe’s awakening movement ‘Renaissance’, was a Caucasian slave.
He added that da Vinci’s mother was trafficked from her homeland in the mountains of Caucasus, to Constantinople and then to Venice several times before arriving in Florence.
Professor Carlo, who researched the life of Leonardo Da Vinci, after studying ancient documents in the archives of Florence for many years, made important discoveries related to Da Vinci’s life, and said that Da Vinci’s mother met a young man named Peter Da Vinci in Italy and The son of both is known as Leonardo da Vinci.
Many experts have expressed reservations about Professor Carlo Welle’s research, but they say that there is evidence in the form of historical documents to support his claim.
They claimed that the documents also contained a letter written by Da Vinci’s father, who was in love with Katrina, a slave girl.
