National cannabis policy ready, sent to federal cabinet for approval
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Science and Technology has prepared a national cannabis policy and sent it to the Federal Cabinet for approval.
Federal Minister Shibli Faraz said that a cannabis authority would be set up for the convenience of investors and one window operation would be launched under the regulatory authority.
He said that in the first phase, licenses would be issued to 100 companies for cannabis cultivation. The cannabis policy was formulated in consultation with stakeholders.
He said the Ministry of Education, Commerce, Agriculture and Counter Narcotics were consulted. Boundary walls and field cameras will be installed around the cannabis cultivation area.
Shibli Faraz said that there is a global market of more than 100 billion cannabis. Hemp policy was formulated for medical and industrial cultivation.
