ISLAMABAD (Daily Pakistan Online): A meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Petroleum was held in which MD Sui Southern Gas clarified the reasons for non-availability of gas to domestic consumers.
In a meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Petroleum, MD Sui Southern said that the demand for gas is 1,250 MMCFD while the supply is 1,000 MMCFD, resulting in 250 mm in December and 280 mm in January. There will be shortage of CFD, load management plan is being implemented but Karachi industry has got restraining order on which domestic consumers are not getting gas.
The chairman of the committee asked why you did not take action when you already knew the situation. Officials said that tenders for 8 cargoes were issued in October but no bid was received due to non-receipt of cargo. There was a shortage of gas.
