Local body elections will be held today in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The field has been prepared for the local body elections in 17 districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while all preparations have been completed for the local body elections.

Polling will continue from 8 am to 5 pm without any break.

In which districts will elections be held?

Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Khyber, Mohmand, Mardan, Swabi, Kohat, Karak, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Haripur, Buner and Bajaur. Will use the right to vote.

The number of male voters is 70 lakh 15 thousand 767 while the number of female voters is 56 lakh 53 thousand 95.

A total of 689 candidates for city mayor and tehsil chairman seats, 19,285 for general seats in village and neighborhood councils, 3,870 for women seats, 7,428 for labor seats, 6,011 for youth seats and minorities. 293 candidates are vying for the seats.

A total of 9,223 polling stations and 28,892 polling booths have been set up in the province in which 4,188 polling stations have been declared sensitive and 2,507 more sensitive.

Security arrangements

77,000 police personnel will be deployed for the local body elections while a quick response force of 10,000 FC and Army personnel will also be present.

More than 11,000 police personnel will be deployed in Peshawar.

More than 2,000 candidates elected unopposed

2,032 candidates have been elected unopposed in the local body elections. 217 candidates won in general seats, 876 in women’s seats, 285 in farmers’ seats, 500 in youth seats and 154 in minority seats.
