KP local body elections, 2 killed in Karak firing

At least two people were killed and three others were injured in a firing incident at Takht Nusrati polling station in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to reports, the dead included a cousin of PTI MNA Shahid Khattak and a gunman while the accused escaped.

Polling has been suspended after the incident.

On the other hand, armed men attacked polling stations in Zakhakhel and Landi Kotal areas of Khyber District, as a result of which ballot boxes were smashed at polling stations and election materials were also damaged. The process has been stopped.

Armed men also broke into the polling station at Malik Nadir Shah Clay School in Landi Kotal Bazaar and smashed ballot boxes, damaged election materials and took staff hostage.

It may be recalled that earlier local body elections were postponed in Bakakhel Tehsil of Bannu due to poor law and order situation.
