It will not be in anyone’s interest to leave Afghanistan alone in times of need, says PM Imran Khan
ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the Apex Committee on the situation in Afghanistan was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister in which Army Chief, DG ISI and other officials participated.
The Apex Committee expressed concern over the state of emergency in Afghanistan.
The Prime Minister said he hoped that the world would not repeat the mistake of isolating Afghanistan as it would not be in anyone’s interest and turning away from the situation would be a loss for the international community.
He said that facilities should be provided to the aid agencies for the Afghan people, Pakistan has already pledged financial assistance to Afghanistan, Pakistan has allocated 5 billion aid for the Afghan people.
According to the statement, the meeting agreed to provide all possible assistance to Afghanistan on humanitarian grounds. The issue will also be taken up at the OIC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
