The Academic Council of Delhi University has passed a resolution to delete the subject from the syllabus on Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the national poet of Pakistan and the creator of the ideology of Pakistan.
In India, once again the bigoted attitude has been shown whereby the essay on Allama Iqbal ‘Iqbal: Community’ has been removed from the syllabus.
According to Indian media reports, the resolution to remove the subject from the syllabus was passed on Friday.
In this regard, a member of the academic council said that ‘an adjournment motion was presented regarding the change in the political science syllabus, according to the motion, there was a chapter on Iqbal which has been removed from the syllabus’.
The university administration says that Iqbal’s article was deleted in connection with the campaign to modernize the curriculum.
It should be noted that Allama Iqbal wrote Saare Jahan Seh Hindustan Hamara which was sung in his voice by many singers including the late Lata Mangeshkar.
