Establish Humanitarian Trust Fund on Afghanistan, OIC Foreign Ministers Council Meeting Declaration

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Secretary General OIC held a joint press conference. Shah Mehmood Qureshi He said that a food security program would be formulated for Afghanistan, financial channels would be opened and a special envoy would be appointed. Vaccines and medical aid will be provided to Afghanistan in the context of Corona.
He said that the OIC was grateful to the participants of the extraordinary meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers. Special thanks to the Secretary General of the OIC. The meeting could not have taken place without the cooperation of the OIC Secretary General.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood said that the Afghan delegation was also invited to the conference and the Afghan situation was discussed at the OIC meeting. The discussion on the Afghan situation at the OIC Summit is an important development. The Afghan delegation met several times on the sidelines of the conference. If immediate steps are not taken regarding Afghanistan, a humanitarian catastrophe may arise. The emerging humanitarian tragedy in Afghanistan needs to be addressed in a timely manner.
Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the focal point of the OIC meeting was the 40 million Afghan people and it was the common responsibility of the international community to improve the situation in Afghanistan. The first resolution of the meeting reviewed the situation in Afghanistan.
He expressed solidarity with the Afghan people in this difficult time. The participants agreed on the issue of food security for Afghanistan. The meeting also agreed on measures to address the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. It was also agreed to appoint an OIC Special Representative for Afghanistan.
The Secretary of State said that after hearing the positive views of US Special Envoy Thomas West, he hoped that this extraordinary meeting would serve as a bridge. The plight of the people of Afghanistan has been openly discussed. Two documents on Afghanistan and the Palestinian issue were unanimously adopted.
Shah Mehmood said that it was agreed to establish a trust on the basis of humanitarian sympathy for the Afghan people, OIC and the United Nations have agreed to work together in Afghanistan. Talks have also been held to facilitate the delivery of aid till the restoration of banking channels in Afghanistan. It has been decided to open private banks so that remittances can be made possible through them.
Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi further said that Pakistan has made it clear at every forum that India’s role in Afghanistan has been negative. Despite this, Pakistan took positive steps and gave way to India to help Afghanistan. India thought that Pakistan would not give way and would be ashamed in the eyes of Afghan people but we did not allow India’s move to succeed. Yesterday I met the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan. He was going to India. He was asked to reconsider his attitude towards India and adopt a positive attitude.
Secretary General OIC Ibrahim Hussain In his address, Taha said that he was grateful to the Foreign Minister of Pakistan for hosting the meeting and the participation of member countries, P5, EU and others was a success of the meeting. Congratulations to the Pakistani Foreign Minister on the successful convening of this meeting. This meeting was very important and will have far reaching consequences.
Ibrahim Hussain Taha said that this is not just a one-day conference but it will have historical implications. The meeting was attended by key countries, including the European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom. The participating countries announced their support for the Afghan people. Announcements of support for the Afghan brothers have raised hopes.
He added that the winter has added to the hardships of the Afghan people. The Islamic Development Bank has announced the opening of a special account to assist Afghanistan. They reiterate their commitment to help the Afghan people.
The 17th Extraordinary Meeting of the OIC Council of Ministers on Afghanistan was held in Islamabad in which more than 70 delegations including the Foreign Ministers of the member countries participated.
Saudi Arabia made a big announcement at the OIC Council of Ministers meeting. Saudi Arabia will provide one billion Saudi riyals in aid to Afghanistan.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud said that Saudi Arabia would also provide food, medicine and other aid. The international community must move forward for a better future for Afghanistan.
