ISLAMABAD (Daily Pakistan Online): Federal Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz has said that local body elections cannot be held through electronic voting machine (EVM).
Talking to private TV Dunya News, he said that only mayoral and deputy mayoral elections can be held on EVM. The EVM is designed for National and Provincial Assembly elections. Local elections have more panels, so this machine cannot be used. The Ministry of Science and Technology does not make machines itself, it can only facilitate the procurement of the Election Commission.
