Islamabad: The Economic Coordination Committee of the Cabinet has rejected the proposal to import fertilizer from abroad.
The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet has rejected the proposal to import fertilizer from abroad to meet the requirement of fertilizer for the upcoming kharif season and has given approval to supply local gas to fertilizer plants for fertilizer production.
A meeting of the Economic Coordination Committee was held under the chairmanship of Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, in which the Ministry of Industry and Production presented an estimate of the supply and demand of urea fertilizer for the upcoming kharif crop in the country and the possible shortage.
Rejecting the proposal to import urea fertiliser, the ECC directed the Petroleum Division to supply local gas to the fertilizer plants to meet the requirement of urea for Kharif crops in 2023.
