The Canadian military has reported 581 sexual assaults and 221 cases of sexual harassment in the past six years.
According to foreign media reports, Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand and Canadian Chief of Defense Staff General Wayne also apologized for reports of nearly 1,000 sexual assaults and harassment in just six years.
The Canadian Minister of Defense and Chief of Defense Staff admitted in a speech at the meeting that Canada had failed to protect its military.
General Wayne, the Canadian Chief of Defense Staff, said: “Confidence is the difference between life and death. We have betrayed this trust.”
Defense Minister Anita Anand said: “I apologize for the Canadian government’s sexual harassment. We must address the pain and trauma suffered by many people. We do not protect and defend members.
On the other hand, the Canadian Minister of Defense supports the proposal to transfer the investigation of this matter to civilian authorities.
