Washington: The US has once again called for a ceasefire and said that Pakistan is a partner in counter-terrorism and we expect Pakistan to take action on a permanent basis to suppress all terrorist groups.
According to the World News Agency, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said in response to a question in the weekly press briefing that the US expects Pakistan to take final action against all terrorist groups.
Ned Price added that a $450 million military sales package to maintain Pakistan’s F-16 fleet has also been proposed to achieve this goal.
Ned Price further explained about the package that Pakistan’s F-16 program is an important part of the broader US-Pakistan bilateral relationship. This package will maintain Pakistan’s ability to deal with current and future counter-terrorism threats.
It should be noted that the proposed military sale of $450 million to Pakistan has also been placed before the Congress, which will approve the package.
The proposed sale to Pakistan does not include any new capabilities, weapons or munitions, but follow-on support for Pakistan’s F-16 fleet includes the F-16 Aircraft Structural Integrity Program, Electronic Combat International Security Assistance Program, International Engine Management Program, including participation in the Engine Component Improvement Program and other technical coordination groups.
Additionally, support in this package will include aircraft and engine hardware and software modification and support.
