Islam Abad: Islamabad High Court has declared allotment of 8,500 acres of land in Margalla National Park illegal.
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a written order to hear the case against encroachment on Margalla National Park land. Is the alleged allotment of 8603 acres of land on Margalla National a violation of the Constitution in principle?
The four-page written order issued by Chief Justice Athar Minallah said that the Additional Attorney General could not satisfy the legality of allotment of 8603 acres of land in Margalla National Park. Islamabad Wildlife Ordinance is also being violated. Additional Attorney General has submitted the report of the committee formed on the order of the court headed by Special Assistant. Reflects
The order states that the environmental impact of failure to protect Margalla National Park will be felt for generations to come. Including the Naval Golf Club, the recognized encroachments and inactivity of the regulatory authorities have raised important questions of public interest.
The court order said that the Attorney General, Chairman CDA and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Malik Amin Aslam should appear in person at the next hearing. Why not?
