Secretary Petroleum Division Dr Arshad Mahmood was allegedly removed from his post due to differences with Federal Minister for Energy Hamad Azhar.
According to sources, Federal Minister for Energy Hamad Azhar was not satisfied with the work of Secretary Petroleum Arshad Mahmood and there were differences between the two.
In place of Dr. Arshad Mahmood, Secretary Power Ali Raza Bhatta has been given additional charge of Secretary Petroleum Division for three months.

According to sources, the Federal Minister for Energy has asked the Prime Minister to replace Secretary Tri Petroleum. Disagreements between Secretary Petroleum and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs on the issue of supply are also being cited as the reason for the removal of Secretary Petroleum.
Sources said that some private oil refineries were also directly complaining to the Federal Minister of Energy that their problems were not being resolved. If furnace oil is not removed from the refineries, the refineries may close down due to depletion of storage space.
