New Delhi: Primary schools were closed in the Indian capital New Delhi due to severe air pollution.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in a press conference that primary schools have been closed since yesterday after the air pollution in the capital city reached dangerous levels.
He further said that the primary schools will be closed until the air pollution is reduced. This decision has been taken to protect children from breathing in unhealthy air.
Arvind Kejriwal is facing criticism for the severe increase in air pollution in Delhi and other areas due to the burning of crop residues in Indian Punjab. Indian Punjab is also ruled by Arvind Kejriwal’s Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
