Like many people, it was the Covid-19 health crisis and the confinement that led them to change their lives. Océane and Julien Doux, 33 and 38, still lived in La Rochelle (Charente-Maritime) a few months ago. This December 17, 2021, they both open a tea room shop in the Harry Potter universe at Cannes (Alpes-Maritimes).
“I’ve been a Harry Potter fan since 2001, it’s a universe that has never left me,” explains Océane. During the confinement of spring 2020, TF1 has just broadcast the saga, an assured audience card. At the same time, a social network was also enjoying success, Tik Tok. Océane combined the two by creating an account with which she makes videos explaining the differences between the Hogwarts wizard books and films. Some of his videos have thousands of views and it now exceeds 78,000 subscribers.

Combine the two passions of the couple
“We were already looking to build a project together with my husband, who is a cook,” she says. This success and this craze around Harry Potter gives them the idea, they get it into their heads to open a tea room shop in the universe of the saga, thus bringing together their two passions.
She, who is also a therapist and professional life coach, puts her activity aside to embark on the creation of her new business, “I will perhaps pursue it afterwards in parallel. ”
The idea even appeals to their family, his brother and his sister-in-law join in the adventure by helping with the business plan. Both live in Nice, so Océane and Julien decide to look for a local on the Côte d’Azur.
Favorite for the rue d’Oran
They initially targeted Nice, but eventually fell under the spell of 13 rue d’Oran, in downtown Cannes. This old luxury furniture store is “a real favorite, with its staircase, its mezzanine, its niches …”
The couple works with an architectural firm to adapt the premises and create a kitchen. Océane also scours flea markets to find objects to create this universe of wizards. “I also made things myself, like little potions to decorate. ”
Since December 17, 2021, it is therefore possible to come and have tea and taste pastries in the tea room, but also to shop from the Harry Potter universe, “it’s really half and half with about twenty places. for the tea room. ” Obviously, you can even drink butter beer, or buy some to consume at home or create a sensation by bringing it back for Christmas. “We also have non-alcoholic cocktails which we call our essences to stay in the theme. “
The couple are confident, the Harry Potter news, although with the years, does not weaken with in particular the release of a special episode on the 1is January and a new film by Fantastic animals during 2022. A slight stress all the same when we spoke with Océane on the eve of the opening: recover the refrigerators which caused some problems.
Elixirs et Sorcellerie is open all year round from Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6.30 p.m.
